What does a move in Hannover cost?

The honest answer: it depends – but not on magic. Five factors determine the price, and you can influence all five. Here are the guide values you can count on.

Guide prices by flat size

Guide values incl. 19 % VAT for a move with loading/unloading and transport, without packing and assembly. The actual price depends on floor, carrying distance, volume and extras – only the fixed-price quote after the survey is binding.

The five cost factors

01

Volume

The most important factor. One cubic metre more means more carrying, more loading space, more time. Rule of thumb: living space × 0.3 to 0.4 = m³ of goods.

02

Floor & carrying distance

The 4th floor without a lift costs more than the ground floor – per floor and address. A long walk from the parking space has the same effect. Hence: no-parking zone.

03

Distance

Within Hannover it hardly matters. From about 20 km we count kilometres; long-distance moves add driving time and possibly an overnight stay.

04

Extras

Packing, assembly, kitchen, no-parking zone, final cleaning. Each service saves you time – and costs accordingly. You choose.

05

Date

Month-end, Friday, Saturday and the summer months are in highest demand. Moving Tuesday to Thursday mid-month often gets better terms.

Fixed price or hourly rate?

Hourly rate

Cheap if everything goes smoothly and the move is small.

Final price unknown. Traffic, stairwell, slow packing – all your risk. Typical: €80–120 per hour for 2 helpers + van.

Fixed price

The price is set beforehand, including all agreed services. Delays are our risk.

Requires a survey – which is free with us.

Seamless Moves works with fixed prices after a survey. We offer hourly rates only for small single transports and assembly jobs.

Ten tips to save – without carrying yourself

  1. Book early

4–8 weeks lead time means free choice of dates and often better prices.

  2. Weekday & mid-month

Tuesday to Thursday, not at month-end – 10–20 % cheaper.

  3. Declutter

Every m³ that does not move saves €25–40. Bulky waste collection is free twice a year in Hannover.

  4. Pack yourself

Books, clothes, decoration: you can do that well yourself. Leave fragile items to us.

  5. Rent boxes instead of buying

Our rental boxes are sturdier than supermarket boxes and cost a fraction of new ones.

  6. Disassemble simple furniture yourself

Shelves, beds, tables – if you have tools and time.

  7. Order a no-parking zone

Costs €120, often saves 1–2 hours of carrying – a clear win on hourly rates; on fixed price it reduces our effort and thus your quote.

  8. Reserve the lift

In apartment buildings: inform the management, have the lift blocked.

  9. Everything in one appointment

Clearance, move and final cleaning on one day are cheaper than three trips.

  10. Use the tax

Job-related move: income-related expenses (moving allowance). Private move: 20 % of labour costs, up to €4,000 per year (§ 35a EStG). Keep the invoice, pay by bank transfer.

What about insurance?

Every commercial moving company is legally liable for damage to goods – but limited to €620 per cubic metre (§ 451e HGB). For a 3-room flat with 30 m³ that is €18,600 for the entire household. For most households that is enough; for high-quality furniture, art or tech it is not.

That is why we offer transport insurance at replacement value. Depending on the insured sum it usually costs between 0.3 and 0.5 % of the value – for €50,000 of belongings about €150–250. We raise the topic proactively before every move; the decision is yours.
